Don’t worry about having to do everything yourself, if you need us, our specialist event staff can be on hand to help set up rooms, install lighting, dancefloors, room décor and much more. We’ve compiled some of our top DIY wedding tips and tricks to help get you started!

1. It’s not as easy as Pinterest makes it look

We’ve all seen those seemingly easy ‘how to’ videos online where it’s bish-bash-bosh and you have something beautifully quaint and totally original. We always think “Pfft, I can do that!” and it says it’s made with things you seemingly have just lying around the house, like some cotton wool, a blow torch, nana’s dentures, your childhood blanket and last year’s tax returns. It almost never turns out like the picture you saw on Pinterest, so be realistic in your abilities.

2. Keep it Simple

If it takes you several hours to make something that you need twenty of, and you don’t have a trusty team of arts and crafts professionals as your bridesmaids to help you, it’s probably not worth it.

Just keep it simple and play to your strengths. Jam jars wrapped in hessian or lace to use as little rustic vases or give new life to an old dresser with a lick of paint and use it to host your place cards or candy buffet. Old pallets can be used in all kinds of ways too; turn them in to benches, furniture or even a rustic cake stand!

3. Round up the troops!

Got a nifty aunt or crafty cousin? Get them involved! Don’t think you have to do everything yourself. More often than not friends and family are more than happy to help out and it takes some of the stress off you. Don’t forget to sign them up to help on the day too!

4. See what your venue has to offer

When looking at prospective venues for your celebration, see what is included in the package deals as far as linen, furniture and décor are concerned. Not every venue will have these included! Some have in-house centrepieces that you could use like candelabras. These could easily be dressed by you with the addition of some flower or pearl garlands.

5. Feeling Stuck? Ask the Professionals!

Your wedding is one of the biggest moments of your life and at times it’s going to get stressful and you can feel like you’ve taken too much on. Especially if you’re doing it all by yourself. At Qube we understand this, which is why we offer lots of our styling props and products to you to hire for your special day. Whatever it is, big or small, we’re happy to help.
